- Personal opinion -
At a first glance, people are not attracted to this anime because they're made to real people acting their roles instead of an animation, but I can assure you that this anime will reach deep in your heart if you like war and/or love stories.
It has a lot of emotional moments where you empathize with the characters, and you won't be able to hold back the tears in some scenes.
I ended up in love with this anime for a simple reason; seeing how such a young girl, who lived a hell of a life like if it was normal, ends up feeling finally like a human, warms my heart. Seeing her finally crying, may be of sadness or joy, or smile because she's happy, even frown because she's annoyed, makes you feel finally full after seeing her suffering that much with that dead-stare face.
I give it a 10 out of 10, since the story is catchy, the animation it's gorgeous and the character evolution it's developed in a natural and beautiful way.
