THE CROWN

The Crown is a chronicle about Queen Elizabeth II's life from the 1940s to modern times. This English series, which is directed by Peter Morgan for Netflix, tells us about the personal stories, romances and political rivalries which took place during the reign of Elizabeth II.

The series consists of six seasons of ten chapters each one. Every two seasons the cast is renewed in order to keep a correct timeline and, of course, the actresses who play the character of the queen stand out: Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton. Besides, actors like Matt Smith, Tobias Menzies and Jonathan Pryce as prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, and the actresses Vanessa Kirby, Helena Bonham Carter and Lesley Manville as princess Margaret, countess of Snowdon play amazing roles.

Peter Morgan, the director, has known how to create a perfect world of curiosity and mystery throughout the life of one of the best known and relevant character in history in such a way that it makes us want to know everything about Elizabeth' s life and, what is more, it makes us believe that we get to know what was Elizabeth like as a person, not just as a queen.

Furthemore, the filming team has created during the five seasons a magnificent atmosphere of each different period of history. Reflection of this are the costumes, the hairstyles or the buildings where the scenes have been filmed.

On the other hand, the cast selection is simply extraordinary. Not only for their acting, but because the producers have known to select conscientiously the actors and actresses who are better for each period of Elizabeth II's life.
